Wellbeing at Burnt Oak Junior School

At Burnt Oak Junior School, we believe that a child’s wellbeing is the foundation for success. When children feel happy, safe, and supported, they are more confident and better equipped to achieve their full potential—both in the classroom and beyond.

Our school is a welcoming, inclusive environment where every child is known, valued, and heard. We prioritise strong relationships, mutual respect, and a sense of belonging so that all pupils feel confident to learn, grow, and express themselves.

Wellbeing is embedded throughout our curriculum. Through PSHE, PE and wider school life, children are taught essential life skills—how to manage emotions, build positive relationships, and develop resilience. We also offer regular opportunities for mindfulness, self-reflection, and stress-management strategies to support emotional balance and personal growth.

To ensure that every child receives the support they need, we have a range of systems in place. Our dedicated staff are trained to recognise when children may be struggling and provide early, compassionate support. This includes one-to-one mentoring, small group sessions, and targeted interventions focused on areas like confidence, self-esteem, and anxiety.

We work in close partnership with families, outside professionals, and wellbeing specialists to ensure a joined-up approach. At Burnt Oak, we are committed to making sure no child ever feels alone. Every pupil is supported to feel secure, empowered, and ready to succeed in a caring and understanding school community.
